Look Back in Satisfaction

When I look back at how my first semester went, I feel very proud. Even though I only had school two nights a week, I feel as though I've accomplished a lot. If I look at the big picture, I realize that if I go to school at this pace I will probably get my degree in 5 years but honestly I don't care because I'm at least continuing to work towards something that has to be done but also not drowning in it. I would not be happy if I went away to school and I also wouldn't be happy if I went to school full time because I wouldn't be able to afford the things that I love which are my cars and my horse.I am really glad that BC3 offers night classes and I hope that I can continue to take night classes as long as they offer them. I had a math class that I met a nice new friend in that I hope I can keep as a long term friend, and I learned what college was really like from my English class. It challenged me in many different ways, but over all even though I thought I would h...

Fast Forward

What I imagine myself doing five years from now is having all of my cars built and probably a couple more bought, as well as continuing to make more money and possibly creating a business plan for the tuner shop that I'd like to own, a branch of off my parents business. I would like to have school finished even though I'm only going part time. This would be ideal to have done because it will help my business plan have structure and so I know what I will be getting into besides watching my parents in their business. I hope to be thinking of a place to rent out or buy or even more ideally have my own place in five years. I would also like to become more involved with my horse and get back into competing. I also hope to have more structure in my life than I do now even though I already have a full time job, own three vehicles, and own a horse as well as go to part time night school and continue with my social life. I would also like to get more involved with training my dog to be ...

One Percent

A government topic that I am opposed to is that non profit organizations should be watched more to see if they are taking advantage of the benefits they gain by being a non profit. For example, the amount of land that a non profit is able to take up since they don't have to pay taxes on it or the fact that they don't file their employees under them just so they don't have to pay taxes. A lot of non profits are good with not taking up a whole township of land and also pay taxes on their employees. The city of Pittsburgh has claimed that they can not have not seen them file for any employees, and only have 'employees' fill out W2 forms under UPMC subsidiaries. The attorney for UPMC claims that each UPMC subsidiary has its corporate identity and tax identification number. Either way, i would have to do more research on the topic to fully represent ever side of the story.

Shopping

A product that I would recommend for someone to buy would be a Forced Performance dual ball bearing turbo. I would recommend this turbo over other because of the wide variety that they have that are widely used and completely repairable. I love my FP Red because it meets the power that I want but also is a high quality product. The ball bearing is so specific to FP that you can't even build your turbo to be bigger, but that can also be a downfall to some people. I don't have to worry about shaft play because this turbo doesn't have a journal in order to create the play. I have had to worry about about replacing my seals though but you have to worry about that with every turbo. I also love the Forced Performance product because they have really great customer service and offer a wide range of products other than just their turbo's, which are hard to compete with. They aren't the cheapest on the market but they definitely show why you're going to be paying more mo...

Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down

I would highly suggest that anyone should go see the movie Law Abiding Citizen . I saw this filmy fairly recently and do believe it was a story with great density. I think that this movie is good because it had so many different turning points in order to keep you interested but not so many that it let you get confused. A husband and father that lost his entire family is trying to teach the law a lesson. You probably are thinking, "how can one man teach the law a lesson?" well based on this movie it is very possible. An angry man that turns into a murderer, or is he doing justice? That's up to you. I believe that this is an extreme thriller that will make you cringe and even laugh at times. I was also impressed by this film because the motive behind what everyone was doing, there was no questioning why everything was happening, just the suspense of waiting for something to happen next. This movie is definitely worth a watch if you can handle gore, and being ...

A Bottle of White

An experience I had at Atria's on route 8 was not a very good one. This was a very recent experience, we had reservations for 7:30 on Saturday night. When we got there we realized they were having their Oktoberfest specials. I was especially excited because I love German food. Well we waited about 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were even there for us to order drinks. After we got our drinks and had decided on our meals, everything that all three of us had wanted to eat were no longer available. So why didn't they tell us that before we were even seated or as we ordered our drinks? Well our waiter was also especially obnoxious by trying to be funny but just came across the wrong way. We were there for an hour before our food even got to us and when it had the whole place had basically cleared out. We are starving so I'm sure anything at that point would have tasted pretty good. In reality, my Sauerbraten was mostly flavorless, not sweet or sour as it shoul...

Crap I learned in Highschool

A compelling moment from my education I would say would have been anytime during Marching Band Season. I learned a lot about how much effort it takes to juggle all of your regular classes as well as an extracurricular activity. I did have band class during the day as well so I would also consider it a normal class. I made many friends and also made enemies. The part that compelled me would be the fact of being able to make beautiful music and make it sound amazing with a group of people.  There were moments on the field where we were competing and there was a moment in the song "Dust in the Wind"  where there was a climactic part of the song that gave everyone chills that you were hard to recreate. That moment I realized how lucky I was to be a part of a team that worked together so well. Marching band was never the same after that year, being it was my first. I was with my brother and all of his friends and of course a crush that I had for many years that never saw me as a ...
